We're at Changi Village Hawker Centre in Singapore where a lot of our Singaporean subscribers have told us to visit to try some of Singapore's best nasi lemak! We arrive to find Mizzy Corner one of the popular stalls open but International Nasi Lemak another popular stall closed.
We decide to sample Mizzy Corner's nasi lemak with ayam goreng and try some other Malaysian dishes whilst we're here. There are lots of Malay stalls at Changi Village Hawker Centre.
We eat:
- Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng from Mizzy Corner Stall 01-26
- Longtong; and
- Mee Rebus from Hassan Stall 01-29
Nasi lemak is Malaysia's national dish and is made up of coconut rice, sambal, ikan bilis (fried anchovies), cucumber and egg. It's most commonly eaten for breakfast but is also eaten at all hours of the day.
We also sample lontong which is a compressed rice cake served in a coconut and chilli soup with vegetables. It's a comforting dish with simple flavours.
The last dish we eat is Mee Rebus. A noodle dish wallowing in a thick, peanut-y gravy served with beansprouts, chilli and lime.
Changi Village Hawker Centre is a bit far from the city but very easy to get to. We caught the MRT to Pasir Ris and then the 109 bus which took us straight to Changi Village Hawker Centre (end of the line).
We are in Malaysia until the end of 2017 and would love any food recommendations. Please let us know your favourite places to eat in the comments below. And if you like this video, please give it a thumbs up, share it and subscribe to our channel. Thanks so much for your support.
We hope we've inspired you to eat and explore like a traveler, not a tourist.
