To produce the raw rubber used in tire manufacturing, the liquid latex is mixed with acids that cause the rubber to solidify. Presses squeeze out excess water and form the rubber into sheets, and then the sheets are dried in tall smokehouses, pressed into enormous bales, and shipped to tire factories around the world.
In terms of the tire itself, all manufacturers are on common ground. They rely on rubber from tropical rubber trees, as well as crude oil. They also manufacture their tires in multiple countries, although the US does produce the most tires overall.
The tread and sidewalls are put into position over the belt and body plies, and then all the parts are pressed firmly together. ... The “green” tire is placed inside a mold and inflated to press it against the mold, forming the tread and the tire identification information on the sidewall.
