Hwajeong is a residential and commercial area of Goyang city, which is located in the North West of Seoul, South Korea. Catch a glimpse of a typical local downtown in this video.

Although Hwajeong downtown is not huge like other famous city centers such as Hongdae or Gangnam, i love to stay here. It is still easy to find everything i need, being away from the hustle and bustle of the massive city like Seoul.

We walked from the Hwajeong subway station (Seoul metro line 3). Once you pass the round square, it is there the main commercial area with lots of shops such as restaurants and cafes (mostly), bookstores, drugstores, nail salons, a cinema, karaokes, game centers (with VR + 4D theater!), clothing shops, and cosmetic shops that you can find on this street. A big trend in Korea right now is definitely the pokemon claw cranes - and the cheesy sweet corn dogs (Koreans call it "Hot dog"). Seriously, they are everywhere.

You will find a small park at the end of the commercial district. It is small but very relaxing with spring flowers and trees. A public outdoor hall and workout machines are dedicated to the local community. I even found a bell that if you ring it warns nearby smokers that this is a non-smoking area - since there are a lot of children in the park.
