The completely new battery-electric drive of the UX 300e has an electric motor / generator of 150 kW (204 hp) that drives the front wheels. This enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 7.5 seconds and go up to 160 km / h.

The drive of the UX 300e is ensured by a newly developed battery with 54.3 kWh capacity, which enables a range of 400 km in the NEDC cycle, corresponding to a target range of 300 km in the WLTP cycle. The lithium-ion battery pack with 288 cells is placed in the rear seat area under the cabin floor, which enables a low center of gravity as well as the space and practicality of a crossover.

For the UX 300e, Lexus developed a cooling system for the battery cells that is safer and lighter than water cooling. With cooling air inside the battery pack, stable performance can be achieved even at high speed and repeated fast charging. The system works together with the interior air conditioning and improves driving performance, battery life and charging performance.

Reliability was also at the center of the development of the battery heater. Heating elements under each battery module minimize the influence of cold weather on the range and ensure full power when starting.

In order to achieve a long, trouble-free service life, the battery pack is also protected from dirt and moisture with rubber seals.
