This episode of the vlog is a prime example of the non-linear path of any creative endeavour. You see me introduce working on paper alongside oil painting. My mind skips from flying tiger motifs to self-portraits and back to abstract painting, all in a single day. Getting lost in the process is a great way to access another level of creativity and distract myself from what is going on in the world outside the studio.

To experiment with ink and acrylic on pre-printed silkscreens is refreshingly immediate and a counterbalance to the slow drying process of oil paint in January in Ireland. Time is an extra medium when using oil paint. You need lots of it, especially when painting on a larger scale.
You see the process involved in working on paper versus the approach to oil painting. I think it shows how the oil painting practise can be intense and burns many emotional calories, whereas when I work with acrylics, it tends to give me the ability to revisit the work a lot quicker and frees me up a lot more. The Financial Times arrives with one of my works included in the How To Spend It magazine, advertising a show at the John Martin Gallery in London. I hope you’ll enjoy it. Let me know in the comment section if you want me to talk about anything in particular in future episodes.
