Madrid was founded by the Emir Muhammad I at the end of the 9th century, in 1047 it was traded to the King of Toledo by Ferdinand I of Castile who had just conquered it. In 1085, Alfonso VI takes the city of Toledo, Madrid enters the kingdom of Castile. The city was however destroyed by the Almoravids in 1109.

SThe capital of Spain, Madrid is the largest city in the country and even the 3rd largest city in the EU.This city breathes the soul of royalty and monarchy thanks to the various kings that have succeeded each other.

The official symbol of Madrid is a bear standing on its hind legs enjoying arbutus berries. This symbol is a metaphor for the growth of Madrid and represents the possession and importance of wood, which is essential for the construction of a country.

OLD TOWN

Between the Puerta del Sol and the Royal Palace are the streets, squares and buildings where the town was born. Animated at all hours, to enjoy its atmosphere there is nothing like exploring them without haste and on foot.

Madrid has one of the most important historic centers in Europe, also known as "Madrid de los Austrias" which revolves around the Plaza Mayor, inaugurated in 1620, and the Plaza de la Villa, seat of the old town hall.

Near the Plaza Mayor you can walk to feel like a king to the so-called "aristocratic center" and discover the beauty of the Royal Palace, the Plaza de Oriente, the Opera or the Almudena Cathedral, it is the Madrid of the Bourbons.
