New variants are no surprise from the company renowned for making variants, but it IS surprising when the guys from Weissach give their treasured GT name to something other than a 911 track car. But here we are, with a Nurburgring time of 7.38 via Lars Kern, and less allocation than the sought after GT3 track car!
It’s only available only as a Coupé, the Turbo GT is finished in Arctic Grey and comes standard with all Chassis systems: PDCC, PTV+, RWS and Carbon ceramics: and that’s just the start!
The V8 has been thoroughly upgraded by Weissach, with increased boost pressure, new crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, timing chain drive and torsional vibration dampers. The engine itself is built in #Porsche Zuffenhausen too! The result is 640PS - up 90 from the Turbo, 850NM - up 80, and a blistering 0-60 of 3.3 seconds! The car also has a new titanium exhaust system - 18kg lighter and with a center silencer delete.
The suspension is where the real changes have come. The chassis is lowered 17mm VS the turbo, 7mm VS the GTS and lots has changed subsequently because of the drop. We have front dampers which are stiffer, rear damper mounts stiffer, auxiliary springs longer. We also have a wider front axle, wider front alloys, increased camber by 0.45 degrees and finally specially developed wider Pirelli P Zero Corsa track tyres for the #turboGT! All of this makes the Turbo GT 10% stiffer in normal mode, 15% in sportiest setting!
But has all of this done enough to award it the GT badge, or indeed be that much improved vs the amazing GTS? Today we explore:
