Embracing nature, Hawkesbury Farmhouse allows a family of 4 the space to grow. Designed by LiteraTrotta Architecture, the modern farmhouse is both a raw and refined dwelling.

Situated east of Hawkesbury River on an elevated piece of land, Hawkesbury Farmhouse is oriented west, facing the distant Blue Mountains. Assessing the pre-existing home, LiteraTrotta Architecture saw an opportunity to establish a modern farmhouse that would maximise the striking views available and feature moments of interior intimacy.

The residential and landscape architecture of the modern farmhouse celebrate the panoramic view. A light, angular roof form frames the external vista, whilst the wet edge of the pool visually cuts through the landscape. Inside the house, a curved timber screen delays the revelation of the view, enhancing its subsequent appreciation.

Responding to the extended floorplan of Hawkesbury Farmhouse, LiteraTrotta Architecture opens the roof to create a generous lightwell. The act allows natural light to touch the innermost parts of the modern farmhouse, establishing a feeling of intimacy and prompting the introduction of natural greenery into the interior.

Centred on points of difference, Hawkesbury Farmhouse balances raw and elegant characteristics. LiteraTrotta Architecture does justice to the dual nature of the modern farmhouse, ensuring that the sophisticated interior sits in harmony with the traditional farmhouse features.
