There is a new Jaguar F-Type. Well, pretty much. The face is new, the engine lineup has been refreshed, but that’s pretty much it. But to be honest, with the giant 5.0-litre supercharged V8 now crossing even more of the range than before, we’re pretty happy with what we got. That V8 makes a noise akin to several gods gargling and cracks and pops like no other car, certainly not one that is just as pretty as the F-Type.

But, given that it is a 5.0-litre supercharged GT, even with the all-wheel-drive system that this one comes with and an automatic gearbox, is there a place in the modern world for the Jaguar F-Type still? Is this one final flourish for might sounding British vehicles that delight and entice with sound and beauty?

We’ll have to wait to bring you our thoughts on the F-Type R, which is now only available in all-wheel-drive form, and our considerations on the rear-wheel-drive version of the P450 – the only rear-driven V8 in the range – but here is our review of the new Jaguar F-Type P450 in First Edition guise.
