It all began when a local rancher, W.W. “Mac” Brazel, discovered tinfoil and rubber debris on his property near Roswell in July 1947. When he took them to the Roswell Sheriff’s Department, it was immediately seized by the US Army, who later announced that they had recovered a “flying disk.”
