The recent Nürburgring lap achieved by the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype has placed Xiaomi on the radar as a serious competitor in the EV market, adding another layer to its brand traditionally known for consumer electronics.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype is an ambitious high-performance electric vehicle from Xiaomi aimed at setting records in the hypercar category. Built specifically for track performance, the SU7 Ultra houses three motors—two from Xiaomi's new V8 series and a third V6 motor—delivering a combined 1,548 horsepower (1,139 kW) to achieve impressive acceleration and speed benchmarks. The SU7 Ultra goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.97 seconds, with a top speed of 350 km/h.

This vehicle's power is supplied by a cutting-edge 897-volt CATL Qilin II battery, which allows ultra-fast charging from 0 to 100% in 12 minutes. At 20% charge, the battery can still deliver over 800 kW, ensuring consistent high performance. The SU7 Ultra incorporates significant aerodynamic enhancements to manage its substantial 1,900 kg weight, with features like a massive rear wing and carbon-fiber body panels that collectively produce up to 2,145 kg of downforce at top speeds. Regenerative braking also adds to its track capabilities, recuperating over 400 kW of power and enabling deceleration rates of up to 0.6 g.

Xiaomi has designed the SU7 Ultra to challenge current four-door electric records at the Nürburgring, positioning it as a direct competitor to models like the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. A production version based on this prototype is anticipated for release next year
