Imagine making a sculpture so tiny, your eyelash is the paintbrush. Dr. Willard Wigan MBE, does just that. He makes the world's smallest handmade sculptures and the results truly incredible. A tiny replica of the Mona Lisa, smaller than the top of a matchstick? Check. A realistic replica of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury standing on the head of a pin? Yes. What else? The rest has to be seen to be believed.

Everything is wired up, tuned and playing finally! After driving around a little and listening to it, i need to make more changes. Nothing too drastic. Also, this thing needs sound deadener on the roof and the hatch very badly. We will work on that soon. Hoping not to have to pull the box out to do it. It is a HUGE headliner in the GMC Yukon XL! If you are wondering why i didn't do it in the first place, it's because i usually like to play the system and see where the problems are and THEN address them. I knew the roof was going to be a problem but i didn't realize it would be flexing as hard as it does. So we have more work to do! Stay "tuned" for more!

Don't forget to watch the previous video's to see the massive 24" Sundown subwoofers and huge DC Audio amp rack that is powering this system. It's a fun build! Thanks for watching if you did.

So far this is what we have:

Headunit: Pionner AVH-W4500NEX double din

DM-810 Processor by Audiocontrol http://www.audiocontrol.com

Alternator Mechman 400 amp elite series http://www.mechman.com

3 Titan 8 Lithium Batteries http://www.4xspower.com

Amplifiers: DC Audio 7.5K and now (2) DC 90.4 http://www.dcsoundlab.com

Subs: Sundown Audio 24" ZV5 (in the Skelator box) www.sundownaudio.com

2 sets Mids/highs: Skyhigh Car Audio Neo 3 way components http://www.skyhighcaraudio.com

Sodium cyanide is quite useful in chemistry, but it's probably best known as a poison. When used in chemistry, it can be a bit scary to work with because of its toxicity. However, what I find surprising, is that it still takes a decent amount for it to be dangerous.

WARNING: Cyanide is EXTREMELY toxic and dangerous. It was handled very carefully in this video. DO NOT recreate anything you see.

So today, instead of floating a magnet on top of a superconductor, I'm going to show what happens if I do it the other way around. For this one, I'm using a much bigger superconductor, and I'm again, cooling it with some liquid nitrogen. Now that it's super cold, I can drop it onto a little magnet track that I made. It actually stays on the track, and if I push it, it's able to move without falling off.

Something that I've always wanted to do, is turn bromine into a popsicle. To do this, I'll use a glass rod for the stick. Then after that I'll put a small Dewar flask under it, and fill it
with some nice and cold liquid nitrogen. As it sits there the bromine should slowly
freeze, because its freezing point, is only about negative 7 Celsius, or 19 Fahrenheit.
The liquid nitrogen is way lower than that at around negative 196 Celsius, or negative 320
Fahrenheit.

WARNING: Bromine is very toxic and corrosive, and is extremely dangerous if handled improperly.

This is a revisit of when I make benzocaine like a year ago. I was appalled at how unenthusiastic I was and how sloppy my video was.

The next thing that I put my money to is a proper vacuum pump. My current one smokes after running for 30 seconds. When I get a better pump, I will be able to do some proper vacuum distillations.

In my opinion, the iodine clock reaction kind of looks like magic. The first thing I need is a mixture of cornstarch (just a bit), and some boiling water. I filtered the mixture with some coffee filters. I then I'll add some hydrogen peroxide and I labelled the mixture "part B". For "part A", I need some pills, and I picked up some vitamin C. I only have to crush 2 of them, and mix them with water. This pulls out the vitamin C from the pill and leaves out the filler, which I need to also filter out. Then I added an entire bottle of iodine disinfectant. On top of this I'll add a bunch of water, and that's it for "part A". Now all I need to do is mix the two parts together.

Ok, so today I'm going to try to turn some lead into gold. The first step is to get a few pieces of
lead, and to add some dilute nitric acid. What I have to do next is get a beaker, and add some boiling water, and a small amount of potassium iodide. This all dissolves really quickly, and on top of
this, I'll add a bit of vinegar, and that little lead solution from before. Now all I need to do
is turn off the stirring, and basically just wait.

Ingredients:
1) 0.5g lead metal + 50:50 nitric acid:water
2) 500mL water, 1g potassium iodide, 5% vinegar
3) Profit?

We are back again for the fourth installment! We will be doing the mono nitration of phenol, to get a mixture of p-nitrophenol and o-nitrophenol.

The o-nitrophenol is separated off by steam distillation and the p-nitrophenol that is left over is cleaned by recrystallization.

This video turned out to be very long and it took me like 25 hours to edit it...so you should definitely watch all of it.

Today we are making some pyridine from niacin. We use basic copper carbonate as a catalyst to get things going.

There is another method that is a lot more efficient, where a copper chromite catalyst is used and a video on this has been made by Doug's Lab. I opted not to use the copper chromite catalyst because it is a little harder to prepare. Apparently CaO might also be useable though, which would be pretty easy to make/get.

At room temperature, gallium is completely solid. However, it has a super low melting point of only about 30C (86F), so in a bowl of hot water, it should completely liquify. As a liquid, it kind of looks like mercury, but it's not nearly as toxic, and it's much safer to hold in my hand. However, it is a lot messier and tends to stick to things, and it leaves an annoying residue.

For this video, I'm gonna try turning this penny into gold, which is something that I've always wanted to do.

Procedure:
1) Wash penny with vinegar and salt
2) Drop it into 3M NaOH (12g NaOH in 100mL water) + zinc metal
3) Dry it, put it on a hot plate, and turn on the heat
4) Gold

Unfortunately though, even it really looks like it, it isn't real gold. It's actually brass, and it formed because the heat caused the zinc coating, to combine with the copper in the penny.

I've been wanting to try something for a while now, and to do it, I'm gonna need some high proof alcohol and some sodium polyacrylate. When mixed together in the right way with water, the polyacrylate is able to absorb all the alcohol, and become an extremely flammable powder. I have to throw the fireball quickly because it feels like it's going to burn me, but it's worth it because it makes me feel super cool.

WARNING: DON'T TRY THIS. This mixture is extremely flammable and dangerous. Serious injury can occur if handled improperly.

REUPLOADED AND FIXED (i hope)
-------------------------------------------

Happy New Years Eve everyone!

In this video, we will be making some ammonia gas and condensing it to liquid ammonia. Then we'll be using the liquid ammonia to dissolve some sodium and lithium metal!

In a future video, this liquid ammonia is then used for a quick birch reduction of benzene.

I hope you guys enjoy!

Today I will be making acetanilide, which was historically used as a pain reliever. It was discovered in 1886 and sold under the brand name Antifebrin by the company Kalle & Co. It has since been completely replaced by paracetamol/acetaminophen.

In this video we will be making some 100% Ethanol from 95% Ethanol. I use molecular sieves but other drying agents can be used. I just like sieves the most.

I am in the process of making a patreon account for donations. I am slow so the page is only partially done. Several people requested that a make one. I'll add rewards and stuff later because I'm honestly not sure what to put there yet.

In this video, we explore what milk is made of. It is a really interesting mixture of minerals, proteins, water, sugar, vitamins and fat. Nature has found a way to pack a crazy amount of calories, nutrients and food into a tiny package.

Using a little bit of chemistry, each part can be isolated.

Note: A good portion of the MnO2 from these batteries is actually carbon. It still worked for my bromine synthesis, but it is something to keep in mind.
-------------------------------------------

Hello everyone.

In this video, I get manganese dioxide, zinc and carbon from Zinc-Carbon batteries.

There is a significant amount of carbon in the MnO2. It is not worth the time to try to separate it out though, unless you need pure MnO2.

I used the manganese dioxide to make some bromine. This was filmed in 4K and will be uploaded eventually. The MnO2 can also be used to generate oxygen from hydrogen peroxide. I go over this in my liquid oxygen video and oxygen generator video.

I should add that this video was inspired from NurdRages video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knc1lSupAwQ

I plan to do an Q and A video, so if you have any questions you'd like me to address in the video, leave them in the comments.

In this video, I clean some potassium metal that I left out neglected for a while. It was covered in oxides. We first needed to neutralize the oxides, and then the potassium was melted down.

I am in no way advocating that this is the best way to clean old potassium. Also, there are always fire risks involved.

I also just made 300g+ more mercury thiocyanate to make a new Pharaoh's Snake video.

Okay, so we are not truly dissolving the gold, we are actually forming an alloy between the gold and the mercury (called an amalgam).

This process is not only cool to look at, but it also is really useful to extract gold from ore. The gold-mercury amalgam can then be isolated and the mercury is boiled off or removed chemically. This leaves behind relatively pure gold.

Sometime last year, I got really interested in microwave plasma, which can be made from a lot of things like lit matches, aluminum foil or just some grapes. However, when I went searching for more info about it, I really couldn't find much of anything. There was also no explanation as to why it was yellow every time, regardless of what it was made from.

So, I decided to investigate this a little bit and try to get to the bottom of it.

Warning: This experiments requires the handling of dangerous and volatile chemicals. It must only be carried out in a fumehood or outdoors.
-------------------------------------------

All chemicals must be disposed of properly. Everything will be contaminated with mercury/mercury salts. NOTHING CAN GO DOWN THE DRAIN OR IN THE GARBAGE. Only carry out this experiment if you can dispose of the chemicals and combustion products properly.

Every step of this synthesis deals with dangerous or toxic materials. Gloves, safety glasses and a lab coat are mandatory.

Here is a video to show you how volatile elemental mercury is. It lets off a lot of vapor and breathing this must be avoided.

Cesium metal is very similar to sodium or potassium, but it's even more reactive. It's kept in this glass ampule to protect it from air, and having it break open, could be really dangerous.

WARNING: Caesium is extremely reactive and dangerous. The sample was exhibited in a controlled environment. Serious injury can occur if handled improperly.

A few weeks ago, I bought some titanium tetrachloride which, I heard is one of the most obnoxious chemicals. When exposed to air, almost immediately, a bunch of white smoke starts pouring out. This is a mixture of hydrochloric acid and titanium oxides, which form as the titanium tetrachloride reacts with the oxygen and moisture in the air. What I've always wanted to do, was try and soak a super ball in it.

Gallium looks a lot like mercury, except unlike mercury, it really likes sticking to glass.  It also has a very different and unique reaction, when it's added to aluminum.  I've actually never tried this myself, and I think I'll test it out on this aluminum bat.

Note: when i mention dilute nitric acid, it is a 50/50 mixture of conc. HNO3 (~65%) and water.

Urea is the largest non-water component of pee and it's generated by the metabolism and breakdown of proteins.

It's an extremely useful compound and it's used in many commercial products, from fertilizers to cold packs. Im going to be using it for chemical synthesis, to make Dulcin (a now banned artificial sweetener) and Dilantin (an anti-seizure medication). And maybe some other things.

I definitely think that it is weird to use something that was once part of me to build new chemicals. However, it is also pretty cool. On top of this, Ill be tasting the Dulcin, so things will go full circle.

This is a new type of video style that we have decided to try. It is a lot more casual and it involves my brother and our friend (the camera guy). In this one, we burned calcium gluconate pills to make a weird snake thing, and it was something that I wanted to do for a while.

In this video we make chloroform from bleach and acetone. The yield is a little lower than expected because I used an 11% excess of acetone, which is too much.

This method was taken from Youtube user UC235. A link to his video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYbnNufX5-c

Theobromine is an interesting molecule and is very similar to caffeine. It appears in a high concentration in cocoa (a small amount of caffeine is also in cocoa).

In this video, I am extracting theobromine from cocoa. In the future, I might prepare cocoa powder from raw cocoa pods.

When mercury is added to aluminum, it forms an amalgam (a mercury alloy). Aluminum is normally protected by a thick oxide layer, but the formation of the amalgam disrupts it. It allows fresh aluminum to react with air to form white aluminum oxide. As the oxide grows, it forms as these cool white fibers.

This is a video that I've been meaning to make for a while. I think the idea of converting one drug to another is a pretty cool concept.

About a year ago, I made a series where I chemically converted Aspirin to Tylenol (aka acetaminophen, paracetamol, or APAP). The original series was spread out over several videos and was over 90 minutes long. It has a lot more detail, but it was a much bigger commitment to watch.
