How to reset service indicator light on a Mercedes CLS (W218)
🔧 Steps to Reset Service Indicator (Maintenance Reminder)
Sit inside and close all doors.
Turn the key to Position 1 (ignition on, but engine off).
If you have a push-start button, press it once without pressing the brake pedal.
Display the mileage / odometer screen.
Use the left-side steering wheel arrows to select “Trip” or “Mileage” on the dashboard.
Make sure you’re not in the navigation or radio menu.
Press and hold the “Call” and “OK” buttons simultaneously.
On the steering wheel, press and hold both buttons together for about 5 seconds.
A “Workshop” or “Vehicle Data” menu should appear.
Navigate to “Assist Plus.”
Use the arrow keys to scroll and select “Assist Plus” → press OK.
Select “Full Service.”
Choose “Full Service” → press OK.
Then select “Confirm Service” → press OK again.
Confirm the oil grade (if shown).
Choose the correct oil type (usually “229.5” or “229.51”) → press OK.
Select “Yes” to confirm reset.
When asked if the service was performed, choose “Yes.”
The cluster will confirm with “Service Confirmed” or “Reset Successful.”
Turn ignition off and restart.
Turn the key or press the start/stop button again to cycle power.
The service indicator should now be cleared.
⚠️ Tips & Notes
The procedure may differ slightly if your car has the AMG menu or digital display cluster.
Make sure you reset after completing an oil change or scheduled service, not before.
If the “Assist Plus” menu doesn’t appear, retry the button combination (some need ignition in Position 2).
