Thirty years ago, Taiwan immigrant Jensen Huang founded Nvidia with the dream of revolutionizing PCs and gaming with 3D graphics. In 1999, after laying off the majority of workers and nearly going bankrupt, the company succeeded when it launched what it claims as the world’s first Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). Then Jensen bet the company on something entirely different: AI. Now, that bet is paying off in a big way as Nvidia’s A100 chips quickly become the coveted training engines for ChatGPT and other generative AI. But as the chip shortage eases, other chip giants like Intel are struggling. And with all it’s chips made by TSMC in Taiwan, Nvidia remains vulnerable to mounting U.S.-China trade tensions. We went to Nvidia’s Silicon Valley, California, headquarters to talk with Huang and get a behind-the scenes-look at the chips powering gaming and the AI boom.

As many countries across the globe battle sky-high inflation, Switzerland’s economy is seeing something far less dramatic.

Inflation in Switzerland hit a 29-year high of 3.5% in 2022. While high by Swiss standards, that figure is well below the double-digit inflation of comparable economies including the United States (9.1%), United Kingdom (11.1%) and euro zone (10.6%).

On top of that, economists say it’s easing.

“It’s coming down a little bit,” Tobias Straumann, professor of modern and economic history at the University of Zurich, told CNBC.

For the first time in six decades, China’s population is shrinking, and it’s predicted it could create a demographic crisis. That’s because China isn’t just shrinking, it’s also aging. And the majority of Chinese couples are not considering having more than one child. Because of this, China is predicted to lose nearly 50 percent of its population by 2100.

China’s population decline can be traced back to the restrictive family-planning policies launched in the 1970s and an impressive economic boom fueled by China’s huge labor force.
China’s modernization brought rapid urbanization, rising income levels, and better education to large parts of China. Combined, these policies and growth have given China one of the lowest birth rates in the world.

Today, China is trying to reverse its population decline. Not just because an aging population is hard to sustain economically, but because China’s impressive economic growth, until now, has relied on its people. As China’s population challenges deepen over time, it might have to rethink how to grow its economy and care for its citizens.

Tropical rock lobsters, or pearl lobsters, as they're better known, are one of the rarest and most expensive lobster varieties. The colorful crustaceans are so valuable that there have been international smuggling attempts of its larvae.

Commercially bred pearl lobsters sell for about $50 per kilogram, while wild-caught pearl lobsters sell for $99 per kilogram. This makes pearl lobsters more than six times as expensive as Maine lobsters.

University of Alabama basketball star Darius Miles wept as he was taken to jail and charged with murder. The 21-year-old star is charged with fatally shooting Jamea Harris, near the university campus. Miles allegedly tried to flirt with the victim as she sat in a parked car with her boyfriend and a cousin. One eyewitness says when she refused to talk to him, a gun battle erupted. Megan Black was 20 miles from her Texas home when she received an alert that her smoke alarm was going off. Video soon showed that the massive flames now enveloping her kitchen were caused by her dog Twitch, who had turned one of the burners of her stove on when reaching up to fetch a cookie. Megan sprang into action and called her neighbor, Cissy Blaisure. Cissy safely lead the dogs to safety before heading back inside and putting out the flames just as firefighters arrived on the scene.

America fell in love with Lisa Marie Presley when she was a child. She was just nine years old when her father Elvis Presley died. Lisa Marie was married four times, most famously to Michael Jackson in 1994. Her final marriage was to musician Michael Lockwood, with whom she had twins Harper and Finley. However, the love of her life continued to be her first husband, musician Danny Keough. They were living in his home when she suffered a fatal cardiac arrest.

The accused killer of four University of Idaho students, Bryan Kohberger, revealed he has visual snow syndrome in a social media post from when he was 17 years old. The post states "it is as if the ringing in my ears and the fuzz in my vision is simply all of the demons in my head mocking me." According to an expert, visual snow syndrome is a perception where people see static in their vision. The rare neurological condition also causes tinnitus, a constant ringing in the ears.

The parents of the 5-year-old swept out of his mother’s arms in a California flood are baring their heartbreak to Inside Edition. Jim Moret spoke to Lindsay and Brian Doane about their son Kyle. Kyle and his mom were driving to kindergarten when their car was overtaken by the rising water and started floating away. Lindsay says that when the vehicle began to fill with water, she and her son had no choice but to abandon the car.

Ten people were killed, and another 10 injured in a mass shooting late Saturday in Monterey Park following a Lunar New Year celebration that attracted thousands. At approximately 10:22 p.m., officers from the Monterey Park Police Department responded to a "shots fired" call at a dance studio in Monterey Park. According to Los Angeles Sheriff Robert Luna, the suspect, 72-year-old Huu Can Tran, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Inside Edition Digital’s Stephanie Officer explains.

A naked man was seen on surveillance camera making himself at home during a bizarre home invasion that involved the alleged intruder swimming in the pool, relaxing on the balcony and claiming it was his house when confronted by the actual homeowner. The intrusion in Bel Air took a sinister turn when the man, wrapped in a towel, yanked the family’s pet parakeet out of the cage and violently slammed it on the ground, before killing a second pet bird. A California radiologist is now facing attempted murder charges. Cops say he intentionally drove over the cliff with his wife, son and daughter inside his Tesla. The harrowing rescue unfolded on Devil's Slide, a jagged cliff prone to accidents about 20 miles south of San Francisco. Footage shows what appears to be his wife sticking her head out from the vehicle as rescuers work to free the trapped children. The victims were airlifted with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A clip of Tim Allen “flashing” his 'Home Improvement' costar Patricia Richardson is resurfacing. The clip is from a blooper reel from the hit TV sitcom. In her Instagram post, Richardson wrote, "He was wearing boxer shorts and it was fun." It comes after Pamela Anderson claimed in her new book that Allen flashed her backstage on the "Home Improvement" set. Allen insists it never happened. Richardson says "I doubt this story greatly" in regard to Anderson's claims.

The Saturn 1B Rocket has greeted visitors at a rest stop on the Alabama–Tennessee border since 1979. This piece of space history was donated by the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, in recognition of the three Saturn 1B Rockets that were developed in Huntsville, Alabama. Right now, Saturn 1B’s future is unknown. The rest stop is being remodeled and after decades in the elements, authorities are considering whether to fix up the 168-foot rocket or take it down.

Cops in Florida found exactly what they were looking for in a stolen car. An 11-month-old baby girl was in the backseat when police say it was stolen in Tampa. Officials say about a half hour after receiving the call, officers found the vehicle abandoned inside a fence. Officers rushed to the car hoping to find the child. Police are crediting Brandon Tsay with saving many lives after he disarmed the gunman who shot 20 people at a California dance studio. Surveillance images show the moment Tsay wrestled the gun away from the shooter, preventing him from entering a second ballroom and shooting more victims. The suspect, 72-year-old Huu Can Tran, was later cornered by police in a parking lot before shooting himself.

Mark Jensen is on trial again after his 2008 conviction was overturned. Jensen is accused of poisoning his wife Julie with antifreeze in 1998. A letter written by Julie and given to a neighbor, helped convict him at his first trial. Julie wrote, "If anything happens to me, he would be my first suspect." However, an appeals court ruled the letter should not have been shown to the jury at his first trial.

A rapper’s legal proceedings were delayed when authorities say another crime was committed right in open court. Court documents say Kahlieff Adams conducted a hand-to-hand drug transaction with co-defendant Jeffrey Williams, known by fans as Young Thug. The rapper is on trial for gang-related activities, racketeering, and possession of drugs and firearms and has reportedly pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. A Massachusetts news reporter is being praised for nabbing a suspected dog thief as the cameras were rolling. Juliana Mazza of WHDH-TV was reporting the story of a stolen 13-month-old pointer named Titus — a crime caught on surveillance cameras in a Cambridge parking lot. Suddenly, Mazza saw Titus walking with a man and motioned to her cameraman to start recording. The man seemed befuddled after Mazza started questioning him. She called 911 and he was arrested. #InsideEdition

Elliot Blair was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a popular Mexican resort while celebrating his first wedding anniversary. Blair and his wife Kim are public defenders in Orange County, California. Mexican authorities have repeatedly said the death was an accident caused when he fell from a third-floor balcony, possibly after a night of drinking. However, his family's attorney says Kim was told Blair was shot in the head.

Hundreds of people on Sunday gathered on the front lawn of Graceland on a gray, chilly morning to mourn the death and remember the life of Lisa Marie Presley, who died earlier this month. Some mourners held flowers as they waited for the service to begin under the tall trees on the lawn of Graceland, the home where Lisa Marie lived with her father, Elvis Presley, as a child. A Facebook post has many people wondering if accused killer Bryan Kohberger was secretly posing as a citizen sleuth investigating the murders of four Idaho college students. It was posted on November 30, after police announced the victims were killed with a large knife. The mysterious citizen sleuth wrote: "This leads me to believe they found the sheath," which proved to be accurate. Former FBI special agent Jennifer Coffindaffer believes the mystery sleuth is Kohberger.

In July, an alarming video showed a UPS guy in distress from working in Arizona’s extreme heat. They say the largest toad ever recorded was in Sweden, weighing 5.8 pounds, but this jumbo toad weighed in at six pounds, which earned it the name Toadzilla. A rare snowy owl had experts confused when it popped up in Southern California. Far from its usual Arctic tundra habitat. Now as quick as the owl came, it’s gone. A man was arrested in the murder of a Microsoft executive who was assassinated in front of his 2-year-old daughter. Sixty-one-year-old Henry Tenon was charged with gunning down the father of four Jared Bridegan last year. Court documents call Tenon a habitual offender. He reportedly rented his home from the man who is currently married to Bridegan's ex-wife, Shanna Gardner-Fernandez. She denies any involvement.

Two teenagers who were killed when a gunman opened fire inside this alternative high school in Iowa have been identified. Des Moines Police say Rashaad Carr, 16, and Gionni Dameron, 18, were both students at the school. William Holmes, 49, was also shot. He is also known as Will Keeps, a rapper and activist who is the director of the school called Starts Right Here. He remains at the hospital after having surgery for his injuries. LSU Gymnast Olivia Dunne is speaking out about her rowdy young male fans. It comes after videos of her fans showing up in droves to her meets went viral. The Louisiana State University junior told the "Today" show that her gymnastics team now has a security person who travels with them. A government official said if the rapper applies for a visa to visit Oz, he may be denied, citing his past comments praising Nazis and Hitler. The official said such comments have been grounds for denying others entry into the country and Ye would have to go through the same vetting process as everyone else. Surveillance video shows a masked man breaking into a church, church officials said. The suspect can be seen coming in through the door and then making his way behind a desk, where he rummages through things. The suspect was wearing dark clothing with a backpack, a black bandana as a mask and had blond hair, authorities said. It happened at LifeBrook Church in Houston, Texas. TikTok's Hype House, which has 21 million followers, is known for its out-of-control videos of its stunts. But now, those wild stunts are triggering a lawsuit against some of the tenants. The owner of the 10-bedroom California home says he's appalled at what happened inside his beautiful home. Businessman Danny Fitzgerald claims the house sustained $300,000 in damage when the social media personalities were living there.

Fox News weatherman Adam Klotz paid a heavy price for being a good Samaritan. Klotz was on a New York subway when he says he saw a group of teenagers near an elderly passenger. Klotz says one of the teens lit a joint and used the lighter to set the man's hair on fire. The outraged meteorologist says when he told them to knock it off, they started to attack him. Cops arrested three teenagers, but they were not charged and were later released.

Also, in 2021, a junior high cheerleading squad was criticized after the team manager, who has Down syndrome, was omitted from the yearbook photo. 2016, a high school senior faced several counts of indecent exposure after he showed his genitals in his football team photo. On January 19, the heavens above Turkey's western Bursa province had residents pointing their phones and cameras skyward. They were looking at a rare lenticular cloud. The National Weather Service says lenticular clouds “develop within the crest of mountain waves where the air is rising.” They’re more likely to be seen during the winter and spring, when winds are typically stronger. Sister Mary Johnice stopped would-be thieves from stealing copper pipes. The two men set up a ladder to climb onto the roof of a Christian community center in Buffalo, New York. As one guy climbed up the ladder, the other one walked away. Sister Mary Johnice noticed the ladder and looked up to see the guy on the roof. The 76-year-old nun yanked the ladder away from the building, leaving the bad guy stranded on the roof. He then jumps to the ground and flees.

In 2018, Martin Martinez died after pushing three girls out of the way of a car and saving their lives. It's a zombie apocalypse that's even more terrifying because "The Last of Us" is inspired by real science. The fungus in the show that turns humans into zombies actually exists. Matt Kasson, an associate professor of mycology, says ants and cicadas can be impacted by a fungus that could turn them into zombies.

Pennsylvania state trooper Jay Splain is under fire for his use of deadly force four different times. Since 2007, Splain has shot and killed four people in the line of duty. Autumn Krouse says she was appalled to find out her brother, Andy Dwzonchyk, was the fourth fatality. Splain also fatally shot Joseph Rotkewicz, Charity Thome and Anthony Ardo. Family members acknowledge all four of the deceased were often troubled, used drugs and suffered from mental illness. All four shootings were ruled justified, by prosecutors and a grand jury.

Newly released police bodycam video shows Florida medics saving former NFL Cleveland Browns player Peyton Hillis. Moments earlier, the hero dad saved his son and daughter after they were swept away by a riptide. His kids made it out unharmed but Hillis was in rough shape. A helicopter was called in and Hillis was flown to a nearby hospital. Thankfully, he was discharged after spending two weeks in the hospital.

A massive iceberg has broken away in Antarctica. Glaciologists with the British Antarctic Survey say it measures about 600 square miles, the size of Greater London. It broke off from the Brunt Ice Shelf and researchers say they shot this video in 2019, having noticed a crack forming for a few years at that point. They called it Chasm 1 and continued to monitor it, expecting a breakaway event in the future. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.
