On this episode of The Appraiser, Colin’s appraising a Chevrolet Camaro “ZL1” Clone that isn’t as polished on the inside as it is on the outside- and that may make Colin’s final number lose its luster with the owner. There’s also a Porsche 930 Turbo that was turned up all the way to 11 back in the day, with an Andial-built engine, period-correct fuzz busters, and more. Will its incorrect purple paint job cause this car to be pulled over on its race up the valuation chart by Officer Comer?

As usual, Colin’s got the answers to these questions and a lot more. Join him as he digs in to arrive at a value for both cars and then shares them with the owners. Will they agree with him? Will you? Sound off in the comments section and let Colin know!

On this episode of Stay Tuned, Tony and the boys hop in the truck and head to Spanish Harlem in NYC to rescue a 1973 Buick Electra 225 that has been sitting in a parking garage for 15 years. Packed with 455 cubic inches of Buick V8 power, topped with a ton of 90’s speed parts, this boat was built to be the “fastest Buick in New York.” With nothing but some hand tools, a few small parts, and a lot of carb cleaner, they set out to get this car running and driving. Will they get it fired off? Will it make the drive home? Most importantly, will it do killer burnouts?

The new, 992 generation of Porsche’s GT3 RS is the most extreme, ever. Henry Catchpole gets behind the wheel of this latest 911 on track at Silverstone during the international launch and is understandably blown away by the speed it is capable of delivering. It certainly lives up to its Rennsport name. But he has a question: Is it fun as well as fast?

In this episode of The Driver’s Seat, we look at the latest GT3 RS’s glorious naturally aspirated flat-six engine, the wild aerodynamics, the lightweight Weissach pack and then, perhaps most interestingly of all, the adjustability. Because in this new car you can easily tweak and tune the set up to your heart’s content. You can adjust differential settings, traction control, stability control and the dampers all from behind the wheel.

That last topic is where the mountain bike comes in. To help explain some of the basics of the suspension Henry decided to head to the woods with a YT Industries Capra, complete with Flight Attendant (that’s a fancy suspension system not someone who serves a meal on a Boeing).

Finally we delve into some of the more technical aspects of setting up the car for a circuit like the Nurburgring Nordschleife with none other than Jörg Bergmeister. A Winner at both Le Mans and Daytona, Jörg then gives Henry a passenger lap to demonstrate just what 860kg/1900lbs of downforce (combined with a lot of talent and experience) can do through high-speed bends like Maggots and Becketts or braking into Brooklands.

We hope you enjoy the film. If you’d like us to make a video with the GT3 RS on the road or perhaps compare it to a GT4 RS, then let us know in the comments down below.

The Pontiac Fiero answers the question of why a 1980s economy car would have a big-displacement, mid-mounted engine and four-wheel disc brakes? These were characteristics of a sports cars with Ferrari and Lamborghini badges.

The Fiero shared another characteristic with exotics: its propensity to catch on fire.

In this video, Jason Cammisa examines the history of the Pontiac Fiero, and the automotive con job behind its creation. Built under the guise of an ‘efficient commuter car,’ The Fiero aimed to usher in a new era of sporty, automotive design, and bring General Motors into the future (after a decade of malaise-era cars.) It was a mid-engine ray of hope for the domestic car market, until Pontiac’s plan went up in flames…

Or, less cynically, maybe the Fiero was just a victim of Mission Creep? Once Pontiac's engineers got a taste of the mid-engine layout, which was necessary for aerodynamics required to hit the commuter car's 50-mpg EPA target, they got carried away and turned it into a sports car?

How did the Fiero’s revolutionary design, still praised in the car enthusiast realm today, burn out in GM’s lineup, just to be discontinued four years later? Learn about the history of the Fiery Pontiac Fiero, in this episode of Revelations.

Everyone building a car has a budget, and the creative thinkers go a bit faster for every dollar spent--even if that happens to be putting a $128 Turbo, in a $1000 car.

Watch Tony Angelo and the Stay Tuned crew scoop up a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII and add cheap turbo power. The Mark VIII has killer potential lurking in its 32V V8, and is often overlooked by Hot Rodders and tuners alike. We take the cheapest turbo money can buy, throw it on a very cheap V8 Lincoln, and let it eat! Will it explode? Will it work? Watch and see---let’s go fast for cheap!

We take the ‘second’ cheapest turbo money can buy, throw it on a very cheap Lincoln car, and let it eat! Will a new turbo on the Mark VIII, strapped to its 32V V8, have killer hot rod potential under the hood, or will it be a drag strip disaster? Will the car explode, or will it pay off? How car can we push this vehicle? Watch and see---let’s go fast for cheap!

McLaren Special Operations is the place you go to if your McLaren F1 needs a service or if want a particularly interesting paint job on your new Artura or Senna. However, there is another car that MSO also looks after and it’s a model for which there is a particular fondness: The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.

Launched in the era of supercars like the Porsche Carrera GT and Ferrari Enzo, the mad Super GT with the side exit exhausts and supercharged V8 has always been something of a curiosity. It wasn’t well received when the press first drove it (understandably), but with the benefit of time, views seem to have mellowed. The SLR has also seen numerous iterations over the years and now there is perhaps the best version of all: the HDK. Those letters stand for High Downforce Kit and the car has indeed been treated to a big wing and diffuser, but there is much more to it than that.

The inspiration for this limited edition (just 12 will be built) is the even wilder 722 GT prototype, a race car that was built under the gaze of Gordon Murray but which never raced. Rarely seen, we managed to get it into the studio for this film. The SLR did eventually go racing, but those cars, built by RML, were never quite as crazy or beautiful as this original prototype.

And now, 20 years later, there is a road-going version, with a paint job that might have leapt from a Disney Cars movie. It is an intentionally fun design that is meant to bring out the child in all of us and the SLR HDK is certainly a car that makes you smile when you get behind the wheel. It is intimidating and fast and yet also quite easy to drive thanks to its automatic gearbox and mountain of torque. There is both the sense that you’re driving something very close to a race car and yet also the feeling that you are in a GT, complete with corduroy upholstery on the bucket seats!

At the end of the day, the SLR HDK is really just a bit of fun. A bit of fun that is capable of over 200mph - a speed which this particular car has done on numerous occasions, because it has covered over 90,000miles as a pre production prototype (PP14). In previous lives it has been crashed and shaken on rigs and fitted with numerous bodywork and suspension upgrades, but now it has been adorned with hand-turned gold leaf (look closely at the numbers) and given to Hagerty to drive across snowy moorland roads.

We hope you enjoy the film. Is the SLR a car that you have always admired or been perennially baffled by? What livery would you paint on an HDK? Let us know in the comments down below.

For this episode of The Driver’s Seat, Henry Catchpole walks around the city of Bradford looking pensive until he stumbles upon a garage with a secret. MZR Roadsports is a gem of a company that is producing some beautiful restomods based on the Datsun 240Z (also known as the Nissan Fairlady Z). Since Singer Vehicle Design set the internet alight with its reimagining of the Porsche 911, there has been a vibrant market for subtly (and wildly) updated classics and although the S30 Datsun is an unusual basis for a restomod made in the UK, the result is fascinating.

With a full carbon fibre body and a larger, 3.2-litre straight-six engine, this is the first example of the company’s latest Evolution model - the Caraba commission. It sounds glorious, with hints of BMW, Jaguar and even Ferrari in the soundtrack, and it has 275bhp which is sent to the rear wheels through a modern, six-speed manual gearbox. The whole car is light, too, weighing in at just 1079kg (2379lb), wet.

Inside, there are bespoke carbon seats covered in wonderfully soft Spinneybeck leather and the dashboard is a voluptuous redesign of the original with similarities to a Lamborghini Miura. Despite being a relatively diminutive two-seater sports car designed in the 1960s, there is a surprising amount of room in the cabin, which makes you instantly imagine setting off on a road trip. It’s all topped off with a gear-lever that has something of the Atari CX40 joystick about it - in a good way. And the price for an Evolution? A remarkably reasonable £200k, including the donor car.

If all that isn’t enough to get you clicking on the film, just know that if you don’t then you’ll be missing out Glenn Winhall’s inspired idea to bring a smoke machine and multiple fluorescent tubes into the MZR workshop. The resultant slightly spooky disco vibe is a visual feast. We hope you enjoy the video - perhaps let us know in the comments which other restomods you’d like to see Henry review in the future.

The Lamborghini Huracan is a bit of a dinosaur now, right? And the Tecnica is just an exercise in clinging on, trying to generate a few more sales in the twilight of the model’s life while a replacement is developed. It’s surely got its work cut out against much newer competitors like the McLaren Artura and Ferrari 296 GTB. That’s one perspective.

But the other way of looking at the Tecnica, is that it embodies the Huracan recipe finely, finally honed. After all these years the baby Lamborghini with the V10 has at last had all the kinks ironed out. It sort of felt that way with the STO, but this takes nearly all the best bits of that extreme, expensive halo model and puts them into a more useable package. The end result is a supercar that feels sensationally exciting but also remarkably drivable and fun.

Its longevity also means that the Huracan bucks the current trend for turbos. The 5.2-litre V10 is naturally aspirated and although that can sometimes be seen as out of date as the manual gearbox, Henry Catchpole believes that it shouldn’t be dismissed. Particularly where performance cars are concerned (we’re not about to wax lyrical about a 1.9-litre non-turbo diesel).

In this film we look at the reasons why NA still rules OK. Sound is clearly a benefit, but just why do naturally aspirated engines sound more musical than turbocharged ones? Then there is drivability; Turbos rule the roost when it comes to efficiency and producing power, but there are still NA traits that snails are continually striving to match.

Throw in some chat about hertz (not the rental car company) and a particular type of French pâté and you have yourselves an episode of The Driver’s Seat. We hope you enjoy it, let us know in the comments down below how you feel about naturally aspirated engines and what you love about them.

In episode twenty of "Barn Find Hunter," we visited a gentleman named Steve who had thousands of motorcycles stashed away in barns. There were so many bikes we had to go back. Welcome to our first motorcycle-dedicated episode of "Barn Find Hunter," where you will see a slew of significant Japanese bikes, over 200 Triumphs, bikes with Wankel engines, you name it, Steve has it. The second location we visit has a handful of extremely rare British motorcycles that even make somebody like Steve jealous. Bikes like a Velocette Venom Thruxton, Norton Dominator, Vincent Rapide, Triumph Bonneville, and a factory BSA 650 Road Rocket in a Goldstar frame.

Jason Cammisa's award-winning, best car review on the Internet tackles the brand-new 2023 Genesis G90 and takes a big-picture look at Genesis' bright future. Starring the original Lexus LS400, the current Lexus LS500h, the all-electric Genesis GV60 SUV, and the first Hyundai sold in America — the Hyundai Excel.

Throughout history, the biggest differentiator between the best cars and forgettable cars has been their engine. As an automaker, Genesis has reached unexpected heights, but it's held back by the workaday engines from its Hyundai parent. Once its products go electric, that differentiator is going away, potentially catapulting Genesis to the top of the luxury-car heap where desirability reigns supreme.

Come along on this enlightening — and hilarious — journey that includes 4 different car reviews, 2 drag races, and a 1994 Hyundai that disintegrates in front of our eyes. All with a bonus BTS outtake featuring the hilarious Randy Pobst.

Jason Cammisa on the ICONS is a:
2022 WEBBY winner (best writing!)
2022 INTERNATIONAL MOTOR FILM AWARDS winner (best journalism film!)

What do a Lamborghini Murciélago, a C5 Corvette Z06, and a NISMO 350Z have in common?
And why are they together with a Saab 900 Turbo, Hummer H1, and Harley-Davidson Knucklehead?

They — together with the Suzuki Cappuccino, 4th-generation Toyota pickup, Mercedes SLR McLaren, AMC AMX, and Audi R8 — have been chosen for the 2023 Hagerty Bull Market.

Every year, Hagerty’s Valuation Team picks ten collector cars (and one motorcycle) that are poised to appreciate in value. This year, we made a video with them all together, presented by Jason Cammisa and Randy Pobst — with the help of a crystal ball, Willow Springs International Raceway, and some beautiful back roads.

Introducing the 2023 Bull Market List in collaboration with @OfficialMobil1.

With the help of the Maserati MC20, this is another record-breaking drag-race! This time, the award goes to the quickest-accelerating gasoline-powered SUV ever made. Find out whether that's the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT Coupe or the Aston Martin DBX707 — and whether either can keep up with the electric, four-motor, 835-hp Rivian R1S Launch Edition.

The last time we included a Rivian, the R1T left the world's fastest pickup trucks in its dust. With the same powertrain and a couple fewer pounds, can the Rivian R1S SUV extend its reign?

The Cayenne GT shares its platform and engine with other Volkswagen-group SUVs (the Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga, and Audi RSQ8, to name a few) and its 631-hp output is just 10 shy of the top-dog Urus'. However, the Porsche proves even quicker than the Lamborghini.

Meanwhile, the 707 is the 707-hp (metric) version of Aston's beautiful SUV — with an AMG 4.0-liter V-8 and 9-speed transmission with a wet clutchpack. Can its clutch-dump launch beat the Porsche's torque-converter, brake-torque launch?

Or will the Porsche's 80-treadwear Pirelli Corsa tires claw that advantage back?

Either way, the winner gets to race the carbon-fiber Maserati MC20, the brand's first supercar since it divorced Ferrari. The Maserati Nettuno 3.0-liter V-6 makes outrageous amounts of power — 621 hp, just ten shy of the Porsche — and it weighs 1200 lb less. So it should be an easy win for the Maserati.

Oh, but that would be discounting that Porsche Magic.

It's all on display in this last episode for the 2022 season of Cammisa's Ultimate Drag Race Replay. Caution: Baby On Board!

This drag race pits the new 2023 Corvette Z06, and its outrageous, 8600-rpm 5.5-liter flat-plane-crank V-8 against the world's fastest naturally aspirated, mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive cars — and one motorcycle:

Representing the 4-cylinder engine is the 15,500-rpm Ducati Panigale SP2, Ducati's top-of-the-line track-focused superbike.

The 6-cylinder Porsche 911 GT3 is the naturally aspirated benchmark at more than 125 hp/liter and a 9000-rpm redline.

And the Audi R8 Performance V10 Spyder RWD has an 8700-rpm screaming V-10 shared with the Lamborghini Huracan.

In this episode of Cammisa's Ultimate Drag Race Replay, Webby Award-winning automotive journalist is joined by SCCA Hall of Fame Race Car Driver Randy Pobst — and MotoAmerica Supersport Champion rider Josh Herrin.

And they might have attacked one another with a baseball bat.

Visit our sponsor RockAuto.com at https://www.rockauto.com/?a=HG-YT-21Q3 to order auto parts online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

We took a clapped-out Subaru WRX EJ205 turbo-charged engine with almost 300,000 miles on it and COMPLETELY rebuilt it. And as always, we recorded time-lapse video of every single step of the process. The rusty body of our well-loved 2002 Subaru WRX hatchback was beyond saving, but its turbo-charged flat-four 2.0L engine will live on as we meticulously disassemble, clean, machine, and reassemble it to better-than-new condition. Make sure you watch until the end to see if it fires up for the first time on a custom-built (out of 2x4's, plywood and a pallet rack) engine stand. If it starts, the only question left is: What should we put this in?

Thanks to our sponsor RockAuto.com. RockAuto.com is an auto parts retailer founded in 1999 by automotive engineers with two goals: Liberate information hidden behind the auto parts store counter (by listing all available parts, not just what one store stocks or one counter-person knows), and make auto parts affordable so vehicles of all ages can be kept reliable and fun to drive. Visit https://www.rockauto.com/?a=HG-YT-21Q3 to order auto parts online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and have them conveniently delivered to your door. Need help finding parts or placing an order? Can Davin and Jeff get this old Ford V-8 engine to fire up after a 50-year slumber? All evidence points to this car being off the road since 1963 (that's 60 years ago!). And it has been slowly sinking into the dirt in its current resting place since at least the mid-1970s. With a new battery, new spark plugs, fresh fuel, basic hand tools, and some good old-fashioned know-how, can your favorite engine builder and his new sidekick get this tired old 1958 Ford Country Sedan station wagon to start? Will it run??

The best-sounding cars of all time have inline-5s and V-10s, and so we lined up the 2023 Audi RS3 with the Lexus LFA and a Porsche Carrera GT!

This episode of Ultimate Drag Race Replay is brought to you by WeatherTech: https://www.weathertech.com/?utm_source=hagerty&utm_medium=web_visit&utm_campaign=Ultimate_Drag_Race_Replay

First, Jason races the new Audi RS3 against an S3 to show how much quicker the 5-cylinder Audi is than its 4-cylinder brother.

The RS3 has the world's only remaining 5-cylinder engine, so Jason raced it against the first-ever production gasoline 5-cylinder — in its semifinal form in a 1991 Audi 200 20V Quattro.

Then it's time for a rev-off argument with Randy Pobst in a Porsche Carrera GT. Plus, an objective measurement of which is louder: CGT or LFA?

With special thanks to 034 Motorsport for bringing out their Audi S4!

In this episode of The Driver’s Seat, Henry Catchpole drives the new Caterham Super Seven 600. It’s like a restomod that normal people can afford. Ok, it doesn’t have a quilted engine bay, but so much of what is appealing about cars like the Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer or the Alfaholics GTA-R or the Eagle E-type is present and correct in this little British sportscar. That idea of connection, emotion and back to basics old-school motoring values is present and correct and it costs less than £30,000.

With just 84bhp and 86lb ft of torque (yes, really) from its tiny 660cc, three-cylinder engine, it might sound like it would be slow and sleep-inducing. But it also weighs just 460kg or 1014lbs and has delightfully short gearing, so it actually feels surprisingly swift. Being closer to the road than the line painted down the middle means that every mph is exaggerated too.

The diminutive size of the Caterham also allows you to explore roads that would be off-limits to supercars. Whether it is dashing along between the reeds in some marshland or climbing tiny back lanes to spectacular vantage points, the Seven feels like it is up for an adventure. Admittedly there has to be a touch of the adventurous about the driver too, particularly if it’s the middle of winter in the UK and the temperature is below freezing.

Henry also gets into some of the history of the Seven, with an amusing story about Colin Chapman’s original Lotus Seven. The Norfolk firm finally stopped building the mk4 in 1973, since when it has been down to Caterham to keep the flame alive. And fifty years on, the formula feels somehow more relevant than ever, particularly in this very traditional, low-powered version which is fabulously fun and easy to enjoy at any speed.

Its skinny tyres might be at the other end of the scale from supercars like Porsche’s GT3 or Ferrari’s 296 GTB, but in many ways this little car is just as enjoyable. You only have to look at Henry’s cold but happy face in the film to see that. We hope you enjoy the episode; please let others know if you do.

On this very special episode we feature the craziest sounding car we've ever filmed! Logan from Defined Autoworks brought his insane 4 Rotor Mazda RX7 all the way from Ohio to come visit us, needless to say we had an absolute blast. The RX7 makes over 600WHP naturally aspirated and is capable of revving to 11,000 RPM... due to class rules during competition he limits the power to 420WHP and 10,000RPM. We put the car on the dyno at HP Logic, went for a street cruise, and even took it through a fast food drive-thru for a mid shoot break! This is one of the coolest cars we've ever had the pleasure of filming, huge shoutout to Logan for building such an awesome machine. Fun fact, Gran Turismo Sport recorded audio from his RX7 to use in the game for the Mazda 787B, now that's a flex!

1000+HP Turbo Snowmobiles?! On this episode we travelled to Snow Outlaws in Cable, WI to film the fastest snowmobiles in the world. These incredible machines fly down a 500ft snow track to over 160MPH in just 3 seconds and 0-60 MPH in under 1 second! The Snow Outlaws event was an incredible experience for the TRC team and to our surprise the outlaw snowmobiles ran so many parts relatable to automotive drag racing. The outlaw sleds are based on a Hypersports 4 cylinder engine design utilizing a hayabusa head, massive turbos, blowers and we even encountered the worlds first V-twin Nitro Harley snowmobile. Special thanks to Lakewoods resort in Cable, WI for hosting the event. As well as Chad, Jenny, and Craig from the snow outlaws for welcoming us with open arms. What's up TRC fam! I'd like to introduce to you my new personal project. It's a 1997 Nissan Kouki S14 and it's in need of some serious TLC! Our goal is to bring this beautiful Nissan back to life and make it an all around badass street car. With the help of close friends and partners we've made over the years we're going to restore the car on a budget, saving money where we can but keeping in mind future goals with the car. The OG TRC fans will remember my 7 second 2JZ 240, i parted ways with that car about 6 years ago and i've missed it ever since. After years of searching for the right car, we were finally lucky enough to score one for a pretty good deal. Let the fun begin!

The evolution of an icon.
75 years ago many thought we were crazy to put racing speed in a luxury car. And then, they didn’t.

The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S Coupe's base price is just about $117,000, or about 40 grand more than the less potent GLE53 Coupe. As for this example, it checks out for $131,430 including requisite delivery fees, which total $1,050. A few options pad the bottom line, things like that $1,950 driver-assistance package, a head-up display ($1,100), the fancier Burmester High-End Surround Sound System ($4,550) and the Warmth and Comfort Package ($1,050), to name a few.

With thundering performance, a comfortable and refined cabin, plus plenty of style both inside and out, the coupe-ified crossover is well-rounded and surprisingly livable. If you value style over capaciousness get the GLE63 S Coupe, but if versatility matters more, stick with the standard GLE SUV. Either way, you can't go wrong.

In this video, Vehicle-Virgins teaches you how to downshift and rev match in a manual car!

http://www.vehicle-virgins.com

We at Vehicle-Virgins™ are a dedicated group of college students here to help you make one of the most important decisions of your life: buying your first car. What sets us apart from other consumer review organizations is our perspective of review; we approach the cars as any kid would, not only as a professional automotive journalist would. We take into account real-world decision factors such as budget, reliability, safety, and maintenance, but we also rate cars on their appeal to a younger market. At 19 and 20 years old, we have spent lots of time looking for our first cars, and we know what appeals to us as well as our friends.

Our mission is to guide individuals in the right direction for their first car. Vehicle-Virgins reviews popular cars that young buyers are in the market for and helps them decide if the car they are looking at is a good choice.

We are lighthearted individuals who are passionate about cars and hope you find our reviews both informative and funny.

Cheers.
