1/4 cup single polished white rice or plain white rice
1/4 cup moong dal
1 tsp ghee (clarified butter)
1/2 tsp jeera
3-4 whole red chilies
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp hing/asafoetida
3 - 3 1/4 cups water
fresh coriander leaves to garnish.

I used 125 ml measuring cup
the rice i use is known as matta pachari in kerala. It is semi polished and hence even though it is white rice, it has brown specks on it and it cooks fast like ordinary white rice.
