When you wake up in the morning, how do you feel?

Only 1/3rd of adults get the recommended minimum of seven or more hours of sleep every night.

The most common reason for this is trouble falling or staying asleep, aka insomnia.
This could be related to stress. It can also be related to too much caffeine (coffee) or alcohol or side effects from medication. It could also be related to other habits that you don't even realize.
But other medical conditions could be the root cause of the problem, like sleep apnea and depression.
Not getting good sleep takes its toll on your overall well-being and hugely impacts your productivity.
And not getting good sleep impacts your life in so many ways.

1. Deep sleep, which occurs in Non-REM sleep, is essential for body repair.
2. REM sleep is essential for learning, memory formation, and optimal brain power.
3. To maximize deep sleep and REM sleep duration, you need at least 7-8 hours per night.
4. Your internal clock is regulated by external factors like light. If you can, follow your internal clock, which means go to bed when it's it's dark and wake up when it's daylight.
