In 2001 MamaMaria was founded by Dutch designers Marianne and Ruth, to meet the demands of women who no longer want to wear skimpy, nude swimsuits, but instead want to wear a stylish, classic swimsuit or bikini to cover up the body of an adult woman.

Inspired by 1950s beach photos of Marilyn Monroe, Betty Page and many other 1950s movie stars.

Sustainability was important from the start: MamaMaria is a high-end brand, made in the Netherlands, with the best Italian fabrics available.

The prints are also made exclusively for the brand and work in small quantities and to measure.

The collections are always based on the best classic and proven designs, with some new details, prints and patterns added every year.
