In this video I'm going to be testing Himi jelly gouache paint, by unboxing and swatching and eventually painting a botanical scene.

The Himi Gouache paint set comes with 18 30ml paint cups, which are individually sealed and they sit within a compact pink case - it's also available in other colours.
It's quite fun peeling off and arranging the colours into a palette you're happy with. Although it's a slightly messy job!

Once all of the lids were peeled off, I swatched each of the Himi jelly gouache paints. The colours are very vivid and have a high opacity. My favourites are the indigo blue and the magenta pink. All of the paints water down well or you can use them straight from the pot.

After swatching the paint colours, I then set out to testing the paints to their full capacity by painting a jungle inspired botanical painting. I found the paints to be excellent at covering the page. I used them directly from the palette and also watered down and found them to handle to difference really well.

My only complaint with this Himi gouache paint set is that they dried out very quickly. I accidentally left the palette lid off over night, and when I returned the next day, the paint was dried and cracked. However, after a little mixing the paint was fine again.
