Daniel breaksdown Korean Army Stew (Budae Jjigae). It is a very popular stew in Seoul. This stew is a byproduct of the Korean war, when food was scarce and Koreans had to make full use of food aid from the US - mostly processed food like spam, sausage, baked beans etc. Koreans mixed the flavor of kimchi, gochugaru along with these processed foods... which resulted in Korean Army Stew (Budae Jjigae). It's high in calories but damn good. Some Koreans even like to add a layer of sliced American cheese on top... That's too much for me... enjoy anywhich way!
