My understanding of restoring these things is:
Disassemble everything.
Check bearings to ensure they're still good and spinning.
Put everything that isn't electronic in an ultrasonic cleaner.
(Not mechanically necessary, but still nice) Strip off old paint&rust and repaint.
Throw out the old wheels, as they'd be questionable at this point.
Is there any important part of this process I'm missing? I'm not very familiar with the internals of these machines, I've just seen a couple people clean and repaint them on YouTube. They seem pretty simple
My wife's uncle gave me an old bench grinder. A customer had given it to him but he had no use for it, and I've been looking for one, so it was great! It's in somewhat questionable shape though, so it needs a bit of love. I haven't risked actually running it yet.
