Today, ‘burnout’ is a term almost regular to everyday life. In his talk, Vlad tells his burnout story but adds an important reframe: how can such an experience help us to stop living for tomorrow? By differentiating the term “life procrastination” from “procrastination”, Vlad shows that often burnout is a result not of career and task procrastination, but of procrastination of that which make us feel alive, such as calling our parents or taking 30 minutes a day to walk in the forest. Through his talk, Vlad emphasises that “living, truly living, is enjoying the passage of time”. Vlad grew up in a household where psychotherapists would gather around the dinner table to discuss the latest trends in cognitive and behavioural research. For him, mental health was never a taboo topic. Vlad changed his career track after burning out and focused his efforts on building and scaling mental health initiatives that make a real difference in people’s lives. Before co-founding his own company, Vlad worked for eight years at McKinsey, where he focused on strategy and organisational work for healthcare clients and on building digital businesses for retail clients. His talk will be focused on “How to Stop Living for Tomorrow” and the importance of well-being at work. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
