Brie Larson teases the awkward team dynamic in The Marvels. Directed by Nia DaCosta, the upcoming 2023 film is the sequel to the original Captain Marvel film from 2019. Instead of simply focusing on Carol Danvers, Marvel Studios opted to include Iman Vellani and Monica Rambeau. Collectively, the trio headlines The Marvels.

Plot details for The Marvels are still scant at the moment. But thanks to the recently-concluded D23 Expo, the first footage for the film debuted, giving attendees an idea about what to expect from the film. The clip wasn't released to the general public, but based on The Marvel's video description, it heavily focuses on the relationships among the characters which are arguably the most interesting part of its narrative. For context, both Carol and Monica were introduced in Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck's 1995-set prequel, Captain Marvel, meaning that they have an established history. Incorporating a new superhero in Kamala Khan in the mix, on the other hand, makes things more interesting.
