In this tutorial I demonstrate how to create a tie die coloured cake that is CHECKERED when you cut into it. Fun!

I used Bakels white mud cake premix (2kgs worth of the premix, which normally comes with instructions and the amounts of wet ingredients you need to add).
COLOURS USED:
Gel food colour in the Americolour range:
Turquoise
Yellow
Violet
Electric Purple
Flavouring for my buttercream was Roerts Butterscotch- get on it!! Amaaazing tasting flavour for your cake frostings ;)
I baked my 7 inch cake tins at 180 degrees celsius for 1 hour and 35 minutes.
IF YOU CAN.... Use 8 inch tins, so then you can use a 6 inch and a 4 inch cake tin to be your guide for cutting later. I managed to mistake my 7 inch for the 8 inch and ended up having to cut out a 3 inch circle (BLAH!!) which wasn't so hard to do anyway, but if you have the right sized tins handy (2 inches smaller in diameter for every ring of cake) then use those instead, they are much much easier to cut with.
SIDE NOTE: I used a tie die cake effect for this because it seemed like the right thing to do a the time. No regrets! Although if you were to just stick to a one coloured cake, the checkered effect will show up much clearer. Just a tip :)
Thanks guys for watching!! I hope this was as fun to watch as it was to make. And remember to experiment and think outside the box ;)
Catch you again next time!
Much love,
Rosie
