Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to be released May 5 2023. The film is written and directed by James Gunn who apparently will be playing a large part in Marvel's Cosmic Universe. In this particular sequel, it will carry on from the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 and Thor: Love and Thunder. Gunn has quoted that this movie will answer a lot of questions from the previous two GOTG films, telling a complete story. As a result, this is likely the end of the road for the GOTG in the MCU.

The end credits of GOTG 2 saw the introduction of character named 'Adam' who is actually Adam Warlock, a genetically engineered superhuman created to be the perfect being. He is a huge cosmic powerhouse and is intended to end all war and be the next stage of human evolution. Will Poulter has been confirmed as cast for this role. Warlock may be a friend or foe to the Guardians, very likely both as they eventually team together.
