Enter the Mothers Day cakes! This baby is created using marshmallow and buttercream roses. This is a fun alternative to the regular flat, all buttercream rose varieties haha. I actually found these to be WAY easier to pipe and create, plus they have a whole lot more dimension to them compared to the roses prepared on a floral nail. I used a #104 piping tip for the roses and a #352 piping tip for the leaves.

For the buttercream, I recommend:
400 grams unsalted butter
400 grams vegetable shortening (replace with the same amount of unsalted butter if you don't want to use this)
1.6kg icing sugar
2 tsp vanilla
3 to 5 tablespoons milk, depending on the consistent you are after. For the roses, you may want to work with a slightly firmer buttercream for best results. You can achieve this by adding less milk, or more icing sugar :) Enjoy!

In these video tutorials, I normally use Bakels Premixes to save on time.
(Bakels is a bakery grade cake premix. Another great one is Allied Mills)

If you prefer to bake from scratch, I do have a range of awesome cake recipes here which convert to cupcake recipes very nicely too.
