Doyeon Shin designs OLED television that unfurls like a flag | Dezeen
In this video, South Korean designer Doyeon Shin explains her flag-like design for a retractable OLED television, which is a finalist in Dezeen and LG Display's OLEDs Go! competition.
Doyeon's design, which is called Flag.R, makes use of the flexibility of OLED display technology to create a TV that rolls up inside a decorative object.
The design features a flexible OLED display that extends from a faceted cylinder finished with wood panels.
This cylinder sits on top of a pole, which is in turn mounted onto a stand that can be specified in a range of different colours.
With the screen fully extended, the design resembles a flag and can be used as a television. When the screen is fully retracted, it can function as a speaker.
Flag.R can also be used with the screen one-fifth exposed to display information such as track listings and lyrics.
"Flag.R is a rollable screen unit and audio speaker all in one," said Doyeon in the video, which Dezeen filmed in Seoul, South Korea.
