Nokia 8.3 5G Review | Live or Let Die?
Reviewing the Nokia 8.3 5G after a week of using it as my full-time phone, including a look at the performance, battery life, gaming smarts and quirks of James Bond's new blower. Check out my full camera test and review for a closer look at those Zeiss optics.
The Nokia 8.3 will finally be on sale in the UK from October 8th for a price of £499. Boasting stock Android with two guaranteed updates and three years of security coverage, this HMD Global smartphone has lots to offer. However, it's also up against the Pixel 4a, OnePlus Nord, Realme X50 and lots of mid-range 5G phones that are best in class and cheaper.
Performance certainly isn't a problem, as PubG and Call of Duty Mobile play perfectly courtesy of the 765G Snapdragon chipset. You've got a gorgeous 6.8-inch HDR screen (not an OLED but still sharp, bright and poppy), with HDR upscaling too. Meanwhile the camera features are ideal for pro photographers and anyone who wants to shoot cinematic style video. Battery life is also strong enough to see you through an intense day.
However, there's no WideVine L1 support at the time I shot this video and the Nokia 8.3 also can be a little annoying, as you'll see from my full review. Check out my verdict on other 5G phones from 2020, including my best smartphones under £400 round-up for a closer look at rivals like the OnePlus Nord and Pixel 4a.
