At Posto 9, on this day, there was a gay party taking place on the sand of Ipanema beach. The party took place at Faro Beach Club.
This party was highly criticized, as the city is experiencing a high rate of contamination, hospitalizations and deaths from the coronavirus pandemic.
The regulars were crowded by the hundreds, without masks. The party had to be closed off by the Military Police, Fire Department and city inspectors.
On the same day in the city, 224 more deaths and 2,114 new cases were recorded. In total, Rio de Janeiro accumulates 5,303 deaths and 428,373 cases.

Ipanema beach is the favorite of the young carioca. Unlike what tourists think, Copacabana beach is not the main beach for the carioca. It is actually Ipanema.
It is 2.6 km long and extends to Leblon beach, which is a complement.
Ipanema inspired the composer Vinícius de Moraes when he released the song Garota de Ipanema, of which Tom Jobim was responsible for the melody.
Among the favorite activities are surfing skiboard, frescobol, volleyball, soccer, footvolley.
Posto Nove is considered one of the best spots on Rio's beach, frequented by celebrities and young people.
Posto Eight is Rio's largest LGBT stronghold on the beach.
