On the edge of the wilderness, in the middle of the mountains of Velebit, there is an international volunteer camp. Young people from all over the world are there to protect bears. Traditionally, the province of Slavonia is also multi-cultural. For centuries, the fertile Pannonian Plain has attracted people from all over Europe. In some villages, more than 20 nations live together peacefully and maintain their own traditions, languages and hairstyles. In the border area with Serbia and Hungary extends the wetland Kopacki Rit, one of the most important wetlands in Europe.
A paradise for many animal and plant species, including the rare white-tailed eagle. Nowhere on the continent so many pairs of the great European bird of prey nest in such a small space. In Croatia, many people still live in harmony with nature. Some find their way back to ancient traditions, like a fig farmer on the island of Vis, or they help out when nature did not mean it so well. And the stork father of the Save has been taking the stork lady Malena with her every winter for 17 years because she can no longer fly south with her partner because of an injury.
