BANG.
14 BYA. The 4 fundamental Forces of the Universe Were Born.
13.2 BYA a giant star imploded creating a supermassive black hole. This hole is the center of the Milky Way galaxy.
And our galaxy is moving. Fast. The disc-shaped Milky Way is moving through the universe at an unthinkable 600km/s (490,000 mph). And if you’re anything like me you may have already asked yourself the question... Where Are We Going?
The answer: towards a gigantic massive black hole that eats galaxies.
The galaxy rotates while it traverses. Imagine a frisbee simultaneously spinning while flying through the air. One full rotation of the spiral takes about 25 million years.
Perhaps more relevant than its trajectory is our galaxy's geometrical archetype, the spiral. Its mathematical essence is the same as the nautilus snail, the head of a sunflower, laminar blood flow, DNA, and high force weather patterns.
Have you ever seen a picture of our galaxy?
Of course, you haven’t. Because no person or satellite has ever been outside of our solar system, let alone our galaxy to take such a picture.
But back to our story, about 9 billion years pass and the Galaxy is still ripping through outer space. 25 Light years away from the supermassive black hole center of the Milky Way, a giant hydrogen cloud implodes creating a star that we call the sun.
At this time (about 4.57 billion years ago) the sun was born inside the womb of the Milky Way. The size of our home star is daunting. You can fit a million earths inside of it. However, our Sun is a miniature model of some other known stars in our universe. The largest star ever found is Canis Majoris. This star is a billion times bigger than our sun.
Receive a breath slowly and allow that inconceivable measurement to expand your perception of this reality.
Our solar system began mostly void with pockets of varying planetary volatility. 400 million years pass before the earth is born from the exploded womb of our home star.
93 million miles from the sun, the earth spins in a life creating zone that would not occur if we existed any further or any closer to the great light source. Always moving, our planet rotates at the speed of 16000 mph and has been clocked lapping the sun at a rigorous 60,000 mph. Yet, from where you sit and read this sentence, doesn’t it feel incredibly still?
About 300 million years pass and 4.3 billion years ago the earth underwent a dramatic change. The earth married the moon. Previously a barren and stricken uninhabitable land with volatile weather and a vast scape of erupting volcanoes, when paired with the moon, the earth began its transformation into a supple creature with lush environments that pulse in-formation of cycles that we have named, nature.
The macro (sun and moon) and the micro (male and female) are intertwined in the procreative process. Thus the reflected movement of a 28 day moon and the 28 day menstrual cycle.
The new lunar life cycle calmed the volcanoes cooled the planet. Then the elements here on earth began interacting. Individual elements begin to bond and evolve in complexity to form the origins of the cell.
About 3 billion years pass after the earth and moon are united in one system (one billion years ago) our last living ancestor began populating the planet, the cell.
And this is where life begins pulsing in an exponential acceleration.
750 million years ago was the last great Ice Age. The entire planet was covered by ice.
580 million years ago there was a shift in complexity on the cellular level. Cells joined together in symbiotic relationships. And it was happening nearly everywhere on the planet in adaptive patterns specific to local climate. The earth thrived even with extinction-level events reoccurring. This is called the Cambrian Explosion.
Since this time there have been 5 major extinctions on this planet. The most recent and most widely known occurring 65 million years ago when the dinosaurs either died or evolved.
The dinosaur extinction was a major shift for earth inhabitants. The mammal, in the form of a small, underground, rat-like creature managed to survive whatever catastrophes the dinosaurs faced. Mammals began their ascent. 64 million years pass.
1.5 million years ago is our oldest known recorded ancestor, Homo Erectus. There were at least 17 different human prototypes walking the earth at this time, including us.
2-5 hundred thousand years ago lived our oldest recorded, higher evolved brothers and sisters: Homo Sapien. Civilization of humanity is apparently this old. Our oldest recorded finding of society is 50,000 years. But this doesn't consider the civilizations that are known to exist on the bottom of the ocean floor.
And that brings us to NOW.
