I found this 1940's / 1950's Marx / Lumar Automatic Scoop Power Shovel at a local Antique mall. My only guess is that it must have been in a moist basement or garage for a very long time to get the thick rust it had. The gears for the bucket were good, but the shafts were wore out. I drilled out the case and installed nylon bushings, and now it moves very smoothly. Originally they had tracks, but they would fall off and get lost
. They do not make replacements,so I used Tonka tracks and turned the wheels on my lathe to accomodate them. Now everything works and it is a pleasure to play with!
