Avenida Rio Branco, formerly Avenida Central, is the avenue that crosses downtown Rio de Janeiro.

It is one of the main public roads in the city, hosting many important events.

In 2016, a 600-meter stretch of the avenue was definitively closed to vehicle traffic, with Boulevard Luiz Severiano Ribeiro being built on the site. The promenade has 35 trees, 1,620 m² in green beds, bike racks, 70 benches and renewed lighting.
