Role of Dopamine in the Brain | Neurotransmitters explained
In this easy-to-understand 2-minute video, I explain the role of dopamine in the brain, its synthesis and its role in different neurological diseases (e.g. Parkinson's disease, addiction to drugs/heroin/cocaine).
The neurotransmitter dopamine is produced in the substantia nigra, ventral tegmental area and the hypothalamus. It is made from tyrosine and is involved in feeling pleasure, reinforcement, movement and the production of prolactin in breastfeeding women.
