Making Japanese Style Table Rails (Hallway Table Part 3)
Making Curved Table Rails!
In this video I will be making the two side rails for the table. They have a very structural purpose and also a visual purpose. The rails have a sort of Japanese style to them, in the way that the rail hold up the table top instead of the legs. The rails are made from curly maple and padauk. After flattening the boards I shaped them with the bandsaw and sanded to it final dimensions on the bobbin sander and by hand. I love how they came out, and I hope you like the look of them aswell.
This is part 3 of a 5 part table making series! It is a hallway/console table, made from curly maple and padauk. It was my final project of the year at Rycotewood Furniture Centre. It has turned legs with mitre padauk socks, coopered curved rails and a glass top. I love how the table came out and I hope you like it as well.
