Unboxing the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra 5G, a smartphone which impressively hides the selfie camera underneath the display - and does it right this time! This hands-on review tests the camera tech andgaming grunt with Genshin Impact, while exploring the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra's features and specs. Is this one of the best flagship phones of 2022?

Well, while we're impressed by the screen and how hidden that front facing shooter is - sadly this handset isn't great for taking selfies. In strong light it's fine but move indoors and things get grainy fast. Still, the Axon 40 Ultra can shoot great looking photos and video with the rear triple 54MP camera setup. You can even capture 8K movies with all three lenses (when the telephoto bug is sorted at least).

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, this ZTE smartphone can blaze through Genshin Impact and other top Android titles. It does heat up over time however, so don't go too crazy. Battery life is also great, with 65W charging via Type C. Sadly there's no wireless charging support, so you'll need to stick to cables.

So that's the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra, a premium phone that still has a few early bugs that need ironing out. As usual there's no headphone jack or microSD support, but otherwise I'd happily use this as my full-time blower.
