Bryson Dechambeau reflects on his first round of 69 (-3) in The 150th Open Championship from St Andrews.
I spoke to Bryson after his fantastic closing round in Royal St Georges last year & asked him if he had decided to play a more economical game when playing the links course.
He said then that he was still learning & he certainly looks like he learned a fair bit.
He was in Doonbeg after his visit to Adare for 2 days & certainly looked like that extra bit of time on the links of West Clare were put to good use.
He kept the driver in the bag for a lot of the holes & avoided a lot of risks as a result.
A really solid opener of 69 should put him in a chance to challenge for the Open.
