Woodworking History from 1973 - What did a Joinery Apprenticeship look like?

My awesome father-in-law is a time served joinery / carpenter / cabinet maker and was kind enough to show me his joinery apprenticeship paperwork - he started this apprenticeship in 1971. This is a UK joinery apprenticeship with a qualification in cabinet making. He would have started his training back in 1969, the apprenticeship is dated 1971 and completed in 1973 after which time he could call himself 'time served'. How does that compare to current day apprenticeships in joinery or carpentry where you are?
