PGA of Australia CEO Gavin Kirkman says Australian golfer Cameron Smith pulled off one of the greatest back nines “in the history of major golf” to win The Open Championship.

Mr Kirkman said it is a “great day for Australian golf”.

“He had a tough day yesterday with the putter and he overcome that, he worked very hard last night and brought a new game out to the course today,” he told Sky News Australia.
