As of Friday 11 March:
There were 20,989 new community Covid cases with 856 people in hospital and 20 in ICU on Friday.
7172 cases in Auckland, with 601 hospitalisations and 10 in ICU.
There were seven deaths reported for Friday. They have not been classified as being from Covid yet.
Omicron subvariant BA.2 is taking over from the BA.1 variant in outbreak.
The way deaths are recorded by the Ministry of Health has been changed, with 34 people identified as having clearly died of Covid, as opposed to other causes of death while being Covid-positive.
