The Adventures of Noko Mashaba by Jonas Lekganyane: Noko has applied for a job, now is he summoned to attend a job interview. On the day of the interview, he gets discriminated.
UNAIDS is launching a campaign called “Right Access - Movement for Social Justice.” It’s aimed at encouraging young people to empower themselves to stand up to discrimination and seek and access health services.
The issue they are trying to address is that many young people across Africa encounter discrimination when they try to access sexual health services (especially HIV treatment services). In spite of the fact that all African countries guarantee universal access to HIV services, the reality on the ground is different.
Often the nurses & healthcare workers will refuse to treat girls that they think are “too young” to be having sex. Women also encounter stigma and discrimination. This is even worse for the LBGT community.
There is also discrimination from religious leaders.
This discourages young people from seeking the services that are their right and guaranteed by law.
UNAIDS overall goal is zero discrimination. Hence they campaign, to encourage young people to access their right to social justice.
The aim of the campaign is to create behavior change and hence become a “movement” to claim and demand social justice.
STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS!!!!
