My Japanese girlfriend eats Balut for the first time in the Philippines. It's a normal Philippine cuisine, but not normal for someone coming from Japan. The balut egg is 17 days old, so just enough so you can see the baby chicken forming in the egg. Basically, it is an unhatched baby chicken fetus.
