FIRST LOOK: Aston Martin Valhalla – 1064bhp, Half-Price Hypercar!
This is the new Valhalla, the first series-production, mid-engined Aston Martin supercar (as the Valkyrie was somewhat of a limited-run special).
Said mid-mounted engine is a 817bhp 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, ably assisted by three electric motors, taking the combined output of the PHEV powertrain to 1064bhp and 811lb ft.
Four-wheel drive (with two of the three motors powering the front axle) helps get the 0-62mph time down to a scant 2.5 seconds, while the tub is carbonfibre, and active front and rear aero generates more than 600kg of downforce between 149mph and the (limited) 217mph max speed.
Only 999 will be built, and prices start at £850k. That’s twice the price of Ferrari’s (aluminium) SF90, but half the price of the recently revealed Ferrari F80 and McLaren W1 hypercars.
So, is the Valhalla stacking up to be an overpriced rival to the SF90? Or is it the 4WD son-of-Valkyrie that is going to give the F80 and W1 nightmares for a fraction of the price?
