The 3008 follows the smaller 2008 in getting a bold new design featuring a massive front grille and LED headlights and tail-lights, plus there’s a wider variety of paint options to help owners stand out from the crowd.

Engines
Engines are largely carried over from today’s car, meaning there are two plug-in hybrid options to choose from, with both able to officially travel for more than 30 miles solely on electric power, plus 1.2-litre and 1.6-litre petrols for those wanting a conventional engine. For high-mileage drivers, there’s also a 1.5-litre diesel.

Interior
Inside, the infotainment touchscreen has grown to 10.0in, while a new 12.3in digital instrument cluster puts the most important information directly in front of you. This is said to be far more customisable than the current 3008’s. As now, the 3008’s infotainment system includes both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto phone mirroring, but there are now more USB connections than before, with two extra ports in the second row.

As part of an upgraded suite of safety technology, the 3008 now comes with night vision, which allows the car to detect pedestrians or animals up to 250 metres in front when visibility is poor. There’s also enhanced automatic emergency braking that can now detect pedestrians and cyclists as well as other cars, plus lane-positioning assistance that takes some of the effort out of steering on motorway journeys.

Equipment and price
Peugeot has also revised the 3008’s trim structure, with each trim level separated by an intermediate ‘pack’. Standard equipment is plentiful, though, with even entry-level Active trim offering 17in alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control and rear parking sensors.

Prices are expected to rise slightly compared with those of the existing 3008, starting at around £28,000. That means the 3008 will remain more expensive than rival mainstream family SUVs such as the Nissan Qashqai and Skoda Karoq to buy.
