After a 1st round of 66 & a 2nd round of 68, Rory McIlroy didn't take his foot off the accelerator on a Saturday of the 150th Open from St Andrews that will be difficult to forget for a while.
The golf played by McIlroy & his playing partner Viktor Hovland was absolutely sensational.
6 birdies from Hovland & 5 birdies, an eagle & just the one bogey on 17 from McIlroy.
McIlroy went 45 holes without finding a bunker in this year's Open but when he did find one, he created a stunning piece of golfing artistry with the eagle from the bunker in front of the 10th green.
He went toe to toe with Hovland then & only a flyer from the rough on 17 created a blot on the copybook.
Incredible golf today & we have another 18 holes of it tomorrow.
We are being spoiled with this championship.
