How to shoot a cinematic video | Patong, Phuket- Thailand 2021
This is my first attempt to give value to my followers and share a few details about how I shoot videos and create content. Its also my first time speaking in-front of the camera, but I want to get out of my comfort zone and grow!
To shoot a video like this you need to shoot at a frame rate of 100fps and set your shutter speed to 200. Make sure ISO is as low as possible and control that via the ND-filter. White balance is set manually to shiny/sunny. Picture profile is straight out of the box (Sony).
Back to the frame rate- the reason for this high frame rate is so you can slow the footage down to 25% speed when you need that feature. I don't recommend that you overuse this. A mix of normal speed and slow speed will feel more real and genuine.
Because I don't use a stabiliser, the video also appears more real and I want the viewers the feel the atmosphere and vibe of the shot.
For audio I use an external recording device from RODE. The mic goes to my phone where I have a RODE app for the recordings. I export the mp3 file to my dropbox and then boom its on my computer- MacBook Pro.
In final cut pro x I then synchronise the audio from my Sony camera with the audio from my RODE microphone.
I live in Patong, Phuket- Thailand and if you want to take your video and editing skills to the next level, shoot me a message. This investment could easily come back to you ten fold, before you know it.
