Total Body Warmup - The Preworkout
http://athleanx.com/x/warmupandbuild
There is a lot of debate about what the best total body warmup is for your preworkout prep. From stretching to getting on the treadmill to doing jumping jacks or just getting under the bar and lifting as heavy as you can right away....the options are unlimited. That is unless you want to do the RIGHT THING.
The purpose of a total body warmup is not to see how flexible you can make yourself, but actually how prepared you can make your muscles for what lies ahead in the workout. If your goal is to build lean muscle then you better think twice about stretching for long periods of time since this will change the length tension relationship in the muscle fibers.
If you think getting on the treadmill for a 20 minute walk is good then I would argue you just wasted 20 minutes IF your goal is gettling leaner and building athletic muscle.
Getting right under the squat rack without an adequate warmup is putting you on the fast track to the emergency room with a lumbar disk blowout.
So what is the right thing? The 5-on-1 preworkout total body warmup is a good start!
