The Virgin Hyperloop is faster than a Boeing 747
Have you heard of the hyperloop? It’s a system of mass transportation that brings together the best of science, engineering, and technology to connect cities faster than a Boeing 737 could!
The Hyperloop was inspired by a concept invented by George Medhurst in 1799 and subsequently developed under the names pneumatic railway, atmospheric railway, or vactrain. It was Elon Musk who brought the hyperloop to public attention in 2012.
It was then in 2013 that Musk also unveiled the first hyperloop design, proposing a 30-minute trip from LA to San Francisco. The concept has been “open-sourced” by Musk and SpaceX, and others have even been encouraged to further develop the ideas behind the mode of transportation. Currently, a few companies and several interdisciplinary student-led teams are trying to advance the technology.
Billionaire Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic is working on a hyperloop design, and it just dropped a new video explaining all about its proposed ultra-high-speed transportation service, which it says will “set the standard for 21st-century travel.” The hyperloop is the first new form of mass transport in 100 years, and when it finally comes into effect it will revolutionize how we travel. It is indeed the future of transportation.
Curious to learn more about this high-speed rail? Want to know what it will look like and how many passengers or cargo it will transport? Want to know what routes it will take? Then, do not miss our video.
