Balneário Camboriú, Santa Catarina, is considered one of the main tourist centers in southern Brazil. A night walk around Avenida Central from Avenida Atlântica on the beach to Avenida Brasil (main shopping street) and back to the beach.

Tourism is the main source of income in the city. The city has a fixed population of 128,000 inhabitants, but in high season around 4 million tourists take turns between the months of December, January and February. It receives tourists from all regions of the country and abroad. There are 18 thousand rooms divided between hotels, inns and summer houses. The city is also renowned for its exciting nightlife. The sector represents about 13% of the city's GDP.
