Old machete restoration turns into Japanese kitchen knife
Old machete restoration turns into a beautiful Japanese kitchen knife. In this restoration video, I restore and re-build this very rusty antique machete. I’m very happy with the result and love the look of my new beautiful Japanese kitchen knife.
We found this rusty an at least 100 years old machete in a local junk yard and just had to rescue it from death. I used special electrolysis and hard machinery to do the rust removal from the machetes blade. I used an angel grinder with a hard disc to adjust the edges on the knife blade. I created a new handle from an old broken hammer. I blacked the blade out with fire and oil but gave the edges a polished look to add some contrast to the blacked-out knife blade.
I really think that I managed to capture the simplicity and beauty of the Japanese kitchen knife. The knife didn’t get as sharp as a real Japanese knife it’s just another kind of steel, so I didn’t go to hard killing tomatoes in the video.
